So, the color of the day is green. Every year, I am tempted to bake cookies or even bread featuring this lovely hue to celebrate the spirit of this fun holiday. However, I am always a little discouraged because for some reason, green dye is the strongest and thus the most long-wearing on the tongue, fingers, and face. Scrubbing this kind of food coloring from my baking dishes and my little one's cheeks also reminded me that I am adding a little something unnatural to my baked goods which puts a damper on the feel-good nature of the day. I can't believe it took me all these years to figure it out, but the solution was right in my tea cabinet this entire time: matcha.
Loaded with antioxidants (one glass of matcha equals 10 cups of regular green tea) and absolutely delicious when one is craving a creamy treat, matcha is one of my favorite go-to's when it comes to teatime. This is due to the fact that when you sip on matcha, you are drinking the entire leaf, not just the steeped water of green tea leaves. Matcha, therefore, comes to you in powdered form that boasts a delightful shade of bright green. My current favorite way to enjoy matcha is in Tea Drop form and I am so excited that St. Patricks' Day aligns with the release of our Matcha Green Tea Drops!
I wanted to share a festive treat with you all today and so I decided to give you a delightful and healthy recipe for a Matcha Green Tea Smoothie from The Kitchn (head on over to this awesome site to check out all the delicious creations)!
