Another work week is winding down and as you start looking to the weekend, why not treat yourself for all your hard work with a delicious recipe that incorporates one of our favorite tea ingredients: Matcha Green Tea.
Loaded with 10 times the antioxidants of regular green tea (that is simply the byproduct of steeped green tea leaves in hot water), Matcha is also renowned for revving up metabolism--a chemical called EGCG optimizes fat oxidation. From brightening your complexion to keeping your smile pretty (it helps to keep bacteria and plaque at bay), this tea is not only delicious but sogood for you!
We discovered this awesome recipe on Vickii Ma's beautiful lifestyle blog (you should definitely give it a peek when you have a chance!) and were enthralled by its simplicity. This makes for a unique and beautiful springtime (or anytime, really) dessert you can craft using your Matcha Tea Drops and enjoy alongside a cup of Rose Earl Grey!
Matcha Green Tea Lava Cake
Makes: 2 cakes
Ingredients:
1/3 C white chocolate
1/4 C unsweetened butter, softened
1/4 C sugar
1 egg
1 Matcha Green Tea Drop
1 1/2 TBSPN flour
Directions:
Butter and flour two ramekins. Simmer a pot of water and place a container holding the chocolate over the pot, mixing the pot until the chocolate melts. Add butter and mix before adding in sugar and egg, beaten. Incorporate flour and Matcha Tea Drop (crushed--you can do so by placing it in a plastic bag and grinding up) using a sifter and mixing until the mixture is smooth and even. Pour mixture into ramekins, cover with cling wrap, and place in freezer for half an hour.
Preheat oven to 450F. Place ramekins in oven for 9 minutes or until mixture is firm and evenly cooked (no dark spots). Remove from oven and allow to cool. Cake is ready to remove from ramekin when you can remove it smoothly from the sides with a knife. Flip the cake out of the ramekin onto a plate and serve with ice cream, fruit, and enjoy!
