Ultimate Paris Staycation

While we find ourselves anxious to travel again, we wonder how we can bring travel to us! One inspiring destination that Tea Drops loves is Paris. We were sad, but not surprised,to find out that coffee is the most consumed beverage (with tea coming to a very close second!) in Paris! We were, however, happy to discover tea culture is more than just present in Parisian cafes, but also in special tea cafes called Tea Salons (similar to what we know as Tea Houses).

One thing that makes tea time unique in France, is the distinctive French pâtisserie that accompanies your tea. Known for their delicious and decadent desserts and pastries, Parisians usually find a sweet treat to accompany their tea of choice at teatime .The French tend to primarily drink black tea varieties or herbal, and compared to the British they seem less likely to add milk or lemon to their tea.

We were so inspired by afternoon tea time in Paris! In Paris, this time is taken every day around 4:30pm, by some, to pause, slow down, and relax-- which is why we're inviting you to join us for a Paris staycation... we want you to have the most relaxing experience! While Parisians enjoy both herbal teas like mint, and black teas of all sorts, grab some of our handpicked teas for this staycation— and learn about the City of Lights from our eyes, as well as the importance of taking a pause in your day to reflect and care for yourself.

For centuries, Paris has been one of the world’s most important and attractive cities. It is appreciated for the opportunities it offers for business, education, fashion, culture, and for entertainment. Paris has been regarded as the main cultural powerhouse of the Western world, and is a magnet for artists and intellectuals because its considered a place where new ideas originate and art is held to a high standard. This notion was especially true in the early part of the 20th century, when the city was favored by numerous writers and artists, including Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, and Amedeo Modigliani. From the history to the culture and lifestyle, Paris is a favorite amongst travelers from all over the world and the perfect place to bring into your own home.

Join Tea Drops on the Ultimate Parisian Staycation with some tips on how to turn your home into your next vacation destination.

PARIS STAYCATION NECESSITIES:

  • Participate in afternoon tea time! Take some time in the day for yourself and enjoy the company or your tea! No phones, no rushing, just relaxation!

  • Go outside! One of the must-do’s in Paris, like in London, is having a picnic in the park-- venture to your backyard or local park to lunch at a safe distance.

  • Don’t have a yard? Sit out on your balcony, set up a comfy corner in your house with plants + flowers and make your own little picnic in your living room!

  • Enjoy a dinner and a virtual tour of some of the great sights in Paris from the Louvre to the Opera to the Eiffel Tower! Take advantage of the sights here.

MAKE A FRENCH FAVORITE— CREPES:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 2 Eggs

  • 7 ounces butter, melted

  • 1 1/4 cups milk

  • Melted butter, extra, to grease

  • 2 navel oranges zested then peeled and separated into pieces

  • 1/2 cup sugar, extra

  • 1 cup butter, extra, chopped

  • 3 Orange Cinnamon Roll Tea Drops melted in 3 oz of hot water

Step 1: Place the flour, sugar and a pinch of salt in a large bowl. Make a well shape in the middle. Combine the eggs, butter and milk in a separate bowl. Gradually whisk egg mixture into the flour mixture until well combined and mixture is smooth.

Step 2: Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Brush with melted butter. Pour 1/4 cup of batter into the pan and swirl to coat. Cook for 1-2 min or until lightly golden and just set. Use a spatula to turn and cook for a further 30 seconds or until golden. Transfer to a plate. Repeat to make 8 crepes.

Step 3: Meanwhile, place the melted Orange Cinnamon Roll Tea Drops, orange zest, extra sugar, and chopped butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Increase heat and simmer for 10 mins or until thickened slightly. Stir in orange pieces.

Step 4: Fold crepes in half and divide among serving plates. Top with orange pieced. Drizzle with orange syrup
