We are so excited to bring you another Brand Ambassador spotlight!
This week, we talk to Kimaya Chalpe, a recent graduate student with a passion for marketing communications and a dedication to using the power of social media for good. Prior to becoming an Ambassador, Kimaya created original Tea Drops content on her own featuring her fun, imaginative drinks.
We hope you enjoy this conversation with one of our most inspiring Brand Ambassadors who truly embodies the Tea Drops mission to connect with others through magical tea moments. Read on to learn more about Kimaya, from her background in photography to her love for dance and music.
How did you discover Tea Drops?
I discovered Tea Drops at Whole Foods one day when I was searching for an immunity-boosting tea at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The “Boost” Tea Sprinkles were the perfect solution. I was hooked after my first sip!
What has been your favorite part of the Brand Ambassador program so far?
My favorite part of the Brand Ambassador program has been creating content for Tea Drops to share my love of tea and the brand! The program challenges me to get creative to produce unique, high-quality shots and write compelling copies for social media. It is so rewarding to see the brand use my content.
Do you have any Tea Drops combinations or recipes you would like to share with us?
I enjoy Tea Drops’ unique blends as they are, so rather than creating new combinations, I prefer to experiment with pairings. My favorite so far is a breakfast pairing: a sliced apple with a Chai Spice or Chocolate Earl Grey Tea Drop. It’s my favorite way to start the weekend.
What stands out to you about Tea Drops as a company and community?
I absolutely love that Tea Drops is a woman owned, founded, and led company that sells organic, fair-trade teas and donates proceeds from every purchase to the Thirst Project. In addition to that, the Tea Drops community is so welcoming and kind. Our shared love of tea helps us all feel a little more connected during this difficult year.
Your photos are amazing, so can you tell us how you are involved with photography and taking pictures?
I’m so flattered -- thank you so much! As someone who works in marketing and content strategy, I know the value of a high-quality and engaging shot. I do my best to practice basic photography principles in my work!
We know you teach Boonya fitness classes originally in person but now online. Can you discuss how you initially started dancing, and why Boonya specifically?
I started dance training specifically in Indian styles at a young age to fulfill my passion for dance and music and to stay in touch with my Indian heritage. Doonya: The Bollywood Dance Fitness Workout has afforded me that same opportunity, with the addition of an incredible workout. As a licensed dance fitness instructor, I get to share my love of dance with my community, whether in-person or online.
What are some of your passions, and what do you like to do in your free time?
Aside from drinking tea, of course, I love to sing and dance. I love to do anything that lets me tap into my creative side -- and if music is involved, all the better!
Has your daily routine changed at all throughout the pandemic, and if so how have you adjusted?
My new daily routine has brought me home to California, safely and comfortably quartered in my room (which works overtime as a bedroom, office, classroom, and fitness studio). Though our temporary lockdowns have been severely taxing, I am doing my best to appreciate the new opportunities this time affords. I can’t complain about extra time with family or extra time to relax and drink tea!
